The current Haus der Kunst in Munich, Germany was originally constructed as the Haus der Deutschen Kunst (House of German art) between 1934-1937.

The museum served as a showcase for national-socialist art. Every year from 1937 to 1944 the Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung (Great German art exhibition) was held, where hundreds of paintings and statues were displayed.
