reconstruction of the
Haus der Deutschen Kunst:
The current Haus der Kunst in Munich, Germany was
originally constructed as the Haus der Deutschen Kunst (House of German art)
between 1934-1937.
The
museum served as a showcase for national-socialist art. Every year from 1937 to
1944 the Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung (Great German art exhibition) was
held, where hundreds of paintings and statues were displayed. During the first
exhibition, an exhibition showing "degenerate" art was held nearby.
This
site features an interactive 3D reconstruction of all 40 exhibition rooms of
the Haus der Deutschen Kunst, filled with 386 artworks that were exhibited
between 1937 and 1944.
